10 Unique Houses That are Strangely Designed or Located in Unusual Places

We all know what a standard house looks like, but there are some of us that prefer to think outside of the box and amaze others with our unconventional ways of doing things. In this case, these houses are either designed in a unique way, or they’re located in a not-so-ideal location.

The first strange house I came across was this one and no, this isn’t trick photography. It appears as though the entire house has been built on an angle. I would assume that the floor of the interior of the home was flat, or else all the furniture would slide down to the lowest level.

The second house on my list doesn’t look that strange, but its location is quite unique – on top of a massive rock pillar. On the plus side, these residents won’t ever have to worry about flooding.

The third house I found looks quite old, to say the least. From its appearance in the photograph, the house looks like a maze. I would be wary of that balcony on the top of the house – it doesn’t look too sturdy and it’s a long way down.

The next house on my list is quite the futuristic one. Four cement pillars support a massive UFO-style saucer. All I can say is this. If the saucer section ever falls, that car won’t stand a chance.

This next house seems to be designed with slopes in mind. It almost looks as though it’s drooping down toward the ground – a very sad feeling. I wonder if those are real branches in the front or just cement pillars designed to look like branches.

For the sixth house on my list, I chose one which resembles a tea cup. Although I must say that this ‘tea cup’ looks very rusty. The top handle of the cup is the chimney stack. It’d be interesting to see what the inside of the house looks like.

This seventh house isn’t really a house, but more of an office building. It really does defy the laws of physics, having what appear to be 9 floors being held up by a single cement pillar on the bottom.

The eighth house on my list is a tall one. If you’ve ever played Age of Empires, you’ll probably agree with me in that it sort of resembles a Watch Tower. Sometimes it just boggles the mind how these masterpieces are constructed in the first place.

Have you ever wondered what it’d be like to live in a shoe? Well, wonder no more! This next house is a shoe – literally. Brick is used to design the majority of the shoe, with what appears to be siding being used for the end part. I can guarantee that the second floor isn’t that spacious.

And finally, this last house gives a new meaning to the phrase ‘space optimization.’ We already know how crowded it can be in certain countries, particularly China and Japan. Well, this house is uniquely built and positioned at the corner of the street, allowing just enough room for a single car to fit somewhat underneath it, hence eliminating the need for having a garage. There are a few problems though. First of all, in the winter, without a garage, you might have problems starting the car. And second, because of the small space for the car to be parked, you’d have to be extremely careful as to not accidentally damage the house while you’re trying to get the car in the right position.

Very interesting. I cannot say that I would feel comfortable spending much time in any one of these houses.
