Italian Artists Turn Abandoned Buildings Into Art

Dott. Porka’s P-Proj is a group of three Italian street artists who decided to turn the many abandoned and unfinished buildings scattered through Italian cities into work of arts. With quite interesting results.

Dr. Porka’s P-Proj is a group of artists from Italy specialising in exploring cities and suburbs looking for abandoned luxury villas, half-built shopping centres in the middle of nowhere, half-finished high-rise apartment complexes illegaly built on the shore of pristine beaches which they use as a stage for a performance featuring their main character: Dr. Porka. They plan everything and then rush to the chosen spot and do their performance. The final result is a set of pictures witnessing the artistic act thant no one is allowed to see.

Their aim is to make people aware of these monuments to illegality they often get used to and don’t “see” anymore, while at the same time giving those places a new meaning, a new sense, a new function (often their very first and only). You can have a look at their work at their website (www.porka.biz) where you can read their art manifesto too, blinking an eye to Futurism.
