Modern Architecture
This article discusses the progression of architecture. It describes how the architectural requirements and expectations have significantly deteriorated in the the modern world.
Architecture is an art, a technology and a business. It describes the complete structure of the building. An architect is the person who actually designs the whole building: its purpose, material and technology to be used and a cost estimate. It is also his responsibility to provide an environment of space, light and climate and to decide the building’s context by its location and form and to convey an artistic meaning. The work of all other people involved in the construction of a building is to follow the guidelines given to them by the architect.
Architecture plays a very important role in building any kind of structure and the construction cannot begin without performing this initial step. Architecture may be termed as the initial planning of the work which has to be done. The concept of architecture is not new to us as it had come from the ancient times. Thus architecture has remained an important phase of construction right from the very ancient times. Although, our architects have tried to follow the trends of architecture set forward by our forefathers but there is an enormous difference between the modern architecture and the ancient one. I support my claim with the following reasons.
The architects in the ancient times used to go into extremely minute details of the building to be constructed. They used to explore each and every possibility so as to build the most economical and beautiful building structure. This is the reason that we see a number of beautiful buildings in this world which were designed and built hundreds of years ago. Taj Mahal is an example of such architecture. Thus the ancient architecture of buildings proved to be the most beautiful and stable. In ancient times, the architects used had ample time to design and construct the buildings / structure and therefore, they used to explore different possibilities which led to the discovery of Waterfall Method and several other beautiful architecture techniques. That is why we notice that the ancient buildings are complete in every aspect. They are well lit, stable and above all, they are designed in the most economical way occupying the least required space without affecting the beauty of the actual building.

On the other hand, the priorities of architects have changed today with the increasing needs of the people and advancement of this world. Now, everybody is in a hurry and no one has enough time to look into the minute details. Same is the case with the architects and their clients. They are least bothered about the beauty of the building structure as they just want a building which fulfills their limited list of requirements like number of rooms built within a certain space. Now a days, no one has enough time to go into the details like the location of place where the building has to be constructed, the light and climatic conditions of the place and certain other important issues. Even if these issues are being considered today, they are given the least priority as the architects have to complete their assignment in a very limited timeframe. Thus the buildings constructed today are not as beautiful as the ones built in the ancient times.

In the light of above arguments, it is evident that the modern architecture of buildings has enormously deteriorated as compared to the ancient architecture but we can’t ignore the fact that the basic requirements cannot be sacrificed over the beauty of the buildings. Today, people are more concerned about the completion of projects in time and thus they only try to fulfill the basic requirements within this limited time. In other words, today, the people are too busy to look over the minute details and thus they simply don’t care about these small little details as long as their basic raw requirements are being fulfilled. Last but not the least, I would like to say that although modern architecture is ugly as compared to the ancient architecture but it is inevitable today due to enormous increase in the number of projects and lack of time.
