Painting and Architecture in India
Many historical buildings have been decorated by beautiful paintings. Paintings in Ajanta caves were made by Boudha Bhikshus. They are nearly 500 years old. The life of Lord Buddha has been depicted in many of these pictures.
From the ancient times the cultural of India is very rich in the field of painting. Kings and emperors like Ashoka in ancient India, and Mughal kings like Shajahan and Akbar patronized many artists in their courts.

The life of Lord Buddha has been depicted in many of these pictures. The painting expresses the feelings of the people. Miniature painting was made popular by Mughal. Landscapes, court scenes, hunting, battle scenes and stories of God are the theme of these paintings.
India is one of the countries, famous for its rich architecture in the world. India architecture was mostly religious in nature. The Indus valley ruins are about 50000 years old. People from all parts of the world come to see the great Stupas at Sanchi and Saranath. A single rock has been carved out to make the whole kailash temple at Ellora.
The Turks and Mughals made a rich contribution to India art and architecture. As a result of it, many palaces, forts, mosques and tombs were built. Some of the monuments made by the Turks and the Mughal are the Qutab Minar, the Red fort, Agra and Gwalier forts.
The Minar of the Qutab Minar is unique in the world. The largest dome in the world is Gol Gumbaz in Bijapur.

The churches in Goa are fine examples of Portuguese architecture. The Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi and the Victoria memorial in Kolkata were built by British rulers.
