After Care for Eyebrow Piercing
Healing time and after care for a eyebrow piercings.
The average eyebrow piercing takes three months to heal.
- It is very important to keep your eyebrow piercing clean because:
- Your eyebrows are for keeping debris and dirt out of your eyes
- The skin is thin and does not have very much tissue underneath to give the piercing strength
During sleep the jewelry tends to get moved around, hampering the healing process.
Even with the perfect eyebrow piercing migration of the jewelry can occur. An infection in the eyebrow can quickly turn into a cyst. Use a hot compress if your eyebrow is sore, red or discharging. Put a clean towel under very hot running water and hold on the wound into the heat dissipates. Repeat until all residue is removed. Rinse your eyebrow with a mixture of salt and water. Apply a compress twice daily. If you have any questions please contact me. If you have serious concerns do not hesitate to see a doctor.
Daily Care
Clean twice daily with liquid antibacterial soap, like Dial. Make sure to clean all of the “crusties” off of the wound. Dissolve 1/2 a teaspoon of sea or table salt with a 1/4 cup of boiling water. Let the solution cool. Rinse your eyebrow 3 to 6 times daily with the salt water solution. A saline solution maybe used but is inferior to the warm water and salt solution. Do not remove or change the jewelry until your eyebrow is fully healed.
Do NOT use peroxide or alcohol on the piercing as they are very astringent and can damage the wound. Do NOT remove the jewel during the healing phase because you may lose the piercing.
