Tattoos: Another Race?

Tattoos: Another Race?

Tattoos and how they can be handled!

If you are anything like me, when it comes to body art, then you have tattoos pretty much anywhere-anywhere that can be covered anyway! They range from my arms all the way down to my feet including spots in between such as my ribs, etc.  Now, when I wake up in the morning I know for sure that through out the day I will encounter many stares or an age old question such as ‘do they hurt’ or ‘how many do you have’, things like that.  And I am not surprised or upset that somebody would ask these things/stare because I know that I can look different than the average person.  Whatever ‘average’ is these days, who knows; there is no such thing as normal.

But what really gets me is when someone just stands there and ogles or gives me a hideous look, without saying anything.  It is as if I am an alien or completely disfigured or something along those lines! Its ok to stare, I guess, if your going to say something! Now whats funny is when I am in long sleeves or dress clothes-in which I would wear to a teaching job, yes, teaching job-and the same kind of people who ‘hate’tattoos have NO IDEA what I look like underneath! And they have even said, I quote, “I can’t stand people with tattoos” having no clue that I, watching their children, am nice and covered.  So, in light and to get this wrapped up, don’t judge a book by its cover or treat someone differently just because of some ink-its like a skin color to me! After all, it is the 2000s-people should be used to tattoos these days!
