Reeducation Postural and Dance Flamenco
An article on postural reeducation and dance flamenco.
The Flamenco is a folk art that involves a specific way to dance, sing and play and is rooted in the region of Andalusia in southern Spain. Its origin is strongly influenced by gypsy culture, and influence of Arabs and Jews. It became the cultural icon, music and dance and Spanish classes are subdivided into palos that are as different rhythms: Solea, bulerias, Sevillanas, tangos, joy, etc.. The Flamenco dancing is characterized by strong expression of feelings through body movements that is characteristic of their origins. These movements combined to sing and the rhythm will bring benefits to the body and mind of the individual dance. In this paper will emphasize the impact of posititivo flamenco dance on the spine and posture.
In our body we have, in addition to other muscle, the muscle dynamic and static. Briefly, the muscle still is deep in the eyes and imperceptible to the touch light, called a tonic or antigravitacional muscles, mainly responsible for the maintenance of posture in our day-to-day, in various placements. It is largely such muscle throughout the spine, holding it and containing it on its axis. The imbalance of these muscle groups can generate deviations posture, back pain and even more serious conditions such as herniated disk. As a muscle is difficult to access, it is difficult to be stretched, strengthened and reorganized (that is done, usually by RPG – Global Postural Reeducation).
The flamenco dance is marked on the most part, by maintaining a posture typical of the trunk extension, retraction and depression of the shoulder, adduction and depression of the scapulae, stretching the neck and snap the spine with a slight knee flexion (the that will limit the movement of excessive rotation of the lumbar spine). All this will generate an intense work of static muscle of our body, helping to correct postural problems, stretched all the muscles and strengthening tonic in the spine, not to mention the dynamic, creating positions that will be similar to the principles of a postural reeducation. This all may be well meaning during a single class of 1 hour, and benefits to the spine and the muscle groups directly involved with it (such as the scapular girdle and pelvic girdle) only tend to grow with the dance. Among other benefits, we have: aid in the correction of postural defects and development of body awareness through increased flexibility, elasticity and muscle strengthening. A Flamenco dance will work the whole body, this way is similar to objetivosda RPG.
The rhythm of the dance can be tagged with palms and feet, in addition to the instruments. The tap dancer will develop a rhythm on a specific shoe for jump, performing smooth movements with the shoulders, arms, wrists and hands, and turns and shifts. All these movements are strongly supported by an upright posture, strong and disciplined of the spine, which will keep constant tension on the muscle groups responsible for the support body.
It is therefore an essential global muscle preparation before beginning a class or a presentation of flamenco dance. This preparation includes the dynamic stretching of the muscle groups (quadriceps, calves, biceps and triceps, flexors and extensors of the wrist and fingers etc) and the static muscle, which is more difficult, but it is also possible. Loosening of joint exercises are also very important. This preparation should be managed by the teacher of Flamenco. Learning to feel every movement of our body, from the softer to the ballistic, is part of an incorporated body of consciousness that is commonly overlooked in the daily and increasingly forgotten over the years.
The work with the attitude and the dance can be performed at any stage of life and will only bring benefits to the body and the mind, relieving, and mainly to prevent pain caused by vicious and sedentary postures, and generate a major impact on quality of life. It is important to emphasize that the lessons of Flamenco can not be replaced by treatment with the RPG, since the dance is not a treatment, but rather may contribute to the maintenance of good posture, through the principles cited in the article.
