Cool Backgrounds with Gimp and Guide
These backgrounds were created by a free photo editing software called GIMP.
press “full view” to the left and then right click the picture and press ” save image as”.
to create images like this i used Gimp.
the first step is to open up a new document in gimp, use foreground color so the background is black.
then change both the foreground and background colors both to white and then choose a gradient in the gradient tab. for the first one i used abstract 1 and the second was a custom
then go to filter > render > nature > flame
once there change the setting to as follows
brightness-2
contrast-2
sample density-20
all the rest stay the same
then go to the camera tab and play about with the 3 sliders. i personally like to increase the zoom to make it bigger and closer.
then press the edit button.
go to next to variation and press the drop down menu. use either spherical or random, but don’t limit yourself get creative.
then press randomize and once you have one that you like press OK twice ( for both the menu’s)
it will take some time for the picture to render depending on resolution so be patient.
to get the little flares i used the flare effect under filter > light and shadow > lens flare.
i put this on a new layer and then under layer mode go to dodge. if the second layer is black then you can use black to erase the extra lens flare
the other way to get it is by using the paintbrush tool and the circle fuzzy brush.
