The Design Process

The Design Process

What the design process is and when to use it. You also learn about the K.I.S.S method.

The design process is a process that anyone can use and is very useful in most situations. People use it whenever there is a problem or situation that needs to be fixed. Whoever the person using it, will go through six simple steps to overcome their problem. The sequence goes I.D.E.A.T.E. You can even use it. One example would be a project at school or a problem at work. Don’t even think it is confusing. To remember it you just have to remember the word ideate. Yes, I know that it isn’t really a word. The reason you have to remember that is that every letter stands for something.

What the Letters Stand for

If you can remember the letters that’s good. Now, you’ll need to know what they stand for other wise its useless. So, here is a crash course on what they stand for.

Identify the problem Define the goal Explore choices

Access choices Take action Evaluate

When you look, you’ll notice there are two E’s in the design process. Other than that, it should be fairly easy to remember how it goes.

Another to Remember

Another statement you will want to remember is K.I.S.S. This one should be easier to remember seeing how it forms a word. Yet again, here is another crash course on the meaning of the letters.

Keep It Super Simple

The whole point of remembering this phrase is to save time when you go through the design process.

Using the “K.I.S.S” phrase along with the design process (I.D.E.A.T.E) can help you save time when trying to solve your problem. Also, when going through the design process try to use the same amount of time for every part. Most people will speed through everything before take action and are not successful in solving their problem
