A New Method for Candid Photography?

A New Method for Candid Photography?

Many photographers have different methods for how they take pictures, and while fooling around the other day, I may have discovered another one.

I have long had an interest in Candid Photography, and not of famous people or anything like that, just average joes in their habitat.  My main problem with this is it takes alot of guts to go out and take pictures of strangers; however, while I was looking through some pictures I took when I was in Italy and not an avid photographer I discovered a way around this shyness.  Since I wasn’t exactly good with a camera during the trip many of my pictures had unwanted people in them, i realized though, that this was to my advantage.

By zooming in on these strangers on my computer, I could make the picture solely about them.  It was perfect because I wasn’t even trying to take a picture of them, so it was the most natural thing ever.  I realized that this could be a whole new method of photography for people.  Find something worth taking a picture of with an interesting subject near it.  Take the picture so that they’re in the bottom corner of it.  They won’t suspect it do it’ll be perfectly natural.  This way you also avoid my biggest problem which is while waiting for the perfect moment to take the picture I miss it because I’m afraid of taking a bad picture and missing my chance.  This way you’re not completely focused on the subject so if you take bad picture, you still have a picture of the landmark.

The only potential problem with this besides catching the subject at a bad time is that if you need to digitally enhance it too much it becomes pixelated and not a very good picture.

I am now going to show you a few pictures I took in this method.

Far from perfect I know, but I definitely like them.  With a little more honing of this technique, it could become a very valuable photography tool.

I like candid photography. It conveys more message as you capture unaware moments..

I agree. posed pictures are so fake. You can get the most depressed person on eartbh to smile for a picture, but if you take his picture secretly you’ll actually capture him.
