How to Print Photo Cards Using Your Computer

When sending a card to someone special, it is always nice to create your own unique card – especially when you can include a favorite photo on the cover of the card. Here are some step-by-step tips to help you print photo cards using your computer.

Putting a photograph onto a card is a fun way to share your memories and stories with loved ones. Making a photo card is as simple as printing a photo on a piece of paper. However, with this photo sharing technique, there are some supplies that you will need to have before you begin, including the following:

  • A computer
  • Printer with colored ink
  • Photos
  • Card paper (such as an Avery paper stock that can be purchased at any office supply store)

First, make sure that you select the kind of paper that you would like for your photo card. Remember that when you share a photo using a photo card, the paper that you use should also fit into an envelope (unless you would prefer to send a postcard).

There are many different types of photo card paper that you can use, including card stock, greeting card paper, and paper that comes complete with a design on it.

After you select the photo paper that is most appropriate for your photo sharing project, open a new template in Word. To do so, go to the “File” menu in the Word console and select “Open File from Template” from the new file options menu.

Select the type of paper that you have purchased from the menu of templates. Photo sharing paper may appear with a different name next to it than the name that you would think to associate with it, therefore, look for the name of the photo paper manufacturer (such as Avery) and the model number.

Next, after you have selected an appropriate size paper, click “OK.” You will see that the photo paper template will appear as a Word document with thin grey lines. Place your photo from your photos folder onto the page where you prefer.

If you would like your photo to be centered on the page, click “Control” + “E” to center the photo. Remember, alignment and placing is important when printing a card because the card will be folded. Therefore, be sure that the photo is on the bottom half of the page facing up when the page is folded.

Before you print your photo card, be sure that you have colored ink in your printer, along with plenty of extra ink cartridges. Photos take up a lot of ink when you go to print them!

Photo sharing by sending a personalized card is a fun way to share photos of fun events and to get creative. Print as many photo cards as you would like – you can even change the photo for each one! The process for each new card or photo will be the same.
