Moments and Places Shot in London

A selection of photos showing some of the things I’ve seen with my eyes in London that capture the imagination.

The Man In The Box\

London has had all sorts of strange things happen in and around the capital, but one of the most memorable moments was to witness a man dangling above the River Thames in Tower Bridge in a Perspex box . He’s a popular illusionist known as David Blaine. He spent 44 days suspended 30 feet in the air by a crane. But what made this more spectacular was that he didn’t eat anything for the whole time he was in there. The only thing he had was plenty of water. Some have asked the question, “How did he use the toilet?” well… that can be left to the imagination.

While he was in the box he witness the sunrise and sunset, but when night fell, his box was pelted with paint and other undesirable objects. However, throughout all the torment he completed his mission successfully.

The Lake

This is a Lake in London’s Canada Water. It was my first time in the area and I just happen to be walking pass, when the scenery caught my eye. The lake seem so calm and untroubled that I just had to get the shot.

A Window With A View

Snow had fallen across the country the night before this picture was taken. Not only does the picture capture the graduate fade of colour in the sky between blue and white whilst the branches of the tree hang down in decoration mode, but the inside of the double-decker bus gives the viewer of the photo a sense of being there.

The Wheel At Night

A night time picture of the Millennium Wheel in all its glory. Since it was build, it’s really changed the London skyline.

The Gherkin

This unusual looking building that looks like a rocket is known as the gherkin. It makes all the other buildings look so square and miniature in comparison.

A Part Of Tower Bridge

A close up shot of the famous bridge.

The Rocket Has Landed

This rocket landed in Trafalgar Square back in the summer of 2004. I believe it was to promote the release of a Thunderbird film. Whatever the reason for it being there, it really drew a crowd.

Trafalgar Square

What I like about this picture is how the light inside the fountain captures the water from underneath which gives it the look of a fireworks display. All the buildings in the background seem to disappear with the darkness allowing the fountain to shine with independence.

The General

A side view of the general known as Charles James Napier. The statue stands in Trafalgar Square for all to see.

A Stack Of Bananas

Was this someone’s attempt to try and sell their bananas at a reasonable price? No it wasn’t.. In fact, this was a piece of art probably thought up by people who really like bananas. Even though this is a very strange sight to be seen in the middle of the west end, everything is not as it seems. The truth is, underneath all those fruits is a car which helps to give the effect of a large pyramid of bananas. It’s a great idea.
