Mountain Paparazzi

Mountain Paparazzi

Photography is a wonderful thing, but what really makes your image pop?

Which way looks best… which effect and which picture? I need your advice, so if you wouldn’t mind helping me out. I love taking pictures and I am trying to make my photography more effective and more beautiful. Which picture scene in your opinion is the best one. Each of these pics are taken by me. I take pictures all the time of random things. These pictures however were taken on my ride home from swim practice. I love the mountains but I cannot decide which one looks best.

Taking pictures is one of my favorite things to do. I would love nothing more than to spend all my time taking memories and beauty. It is one the the greatest things in life you can capture. I am thankful for the wonderful invention of the camera. It is amazing. And one of my favorite devices.

Colored picture with auto fix adjustments and a little contrast

I liked the way this colored picture turned out; I just love the color of the snowy mountains and the sky. The cars and the lights, I think, just add to the beauty of the photo.

Black and White photo

I like the black and white photo; just not as much as the colored photo’s, because I hate hiding the beauty of color!

A lot of contrast

I like the contrast just because it lightens it up, makes it look brighter and happier.

Sepia Photo

I don’t care as much for the sepia. I like it cause the effect is different, but I would rather keep my pictures colored or go black and white.

Left Alone

I like this one, but I think it needs a little more contrast to brighten it up.

At least on my HD screen, all the photos but the original have too much contrast for my taste. Your results may vary depending on your monitor. :)

I’m a pragmatist with regard to photography: all else being equal, what achieves the effect I want, is good. There are places where increased contrast can be useful for effect — as natural portraits I wouldn’t choose most of these, but there are contexts where they could be used. Don’t throw them out; you never know when the light bulb might go on in your head and you’ll say, “this is perfect for this application”.

Nice photos! Good writing too. Personally, I like the original untouched pic the best. It just feels more real to me.

Not an expert in any sense of the word, but I’ll tell you what I think anyway. One of the things that make a good picture is clarity .Good resolution is needed, the person should be able to view the picture without straining their eyes. Blurry images are are usually uncomfortable to the eye. The lighting is also important. Too much brightness sometimes does not allow the picture to “pop” like you say. Different pictures require different lightning , it depends on the mood you want to create. Sometimes to create a romantic look the light should be more subtle , something like the effect moon light has over the river.Shading is also important for it provides contrast, romanticism and definition .You may need to buy filters(that is if you have a professional camera) to filter the light and get the desire light. You can also train your eye to catch the best time of the day to take a picture. It depends how sun rays are filtering through the sky at a particular time. If you look for the right light and practice, you’ll see what I mean. The angle in which you take a picture is also important. Try taking pictures at a different angles. Some things look better looking down than looking up, to the left, or right. You must study the object or person you want to take a picture of. You’ll get inspiration from just looking at the subject.I hope my limited knowledge helps you in some way. Take care.

Nice :) I think I like the last photo the best, but you’re right, it could use just a little more contrast.
