Stereograms: The Amazing 3D Pictures

Stereograms: The Amazing 3D Pictures

Stereograms is pictures lapping over each other, to create a 3D-like shape in the rest of the picture. Learn both how it works, see some examples and how to make your own!

Stereograms – How does it work?

Well, to start with, you can try crossing your eyes. You know, so that you see 2 of everything. Now, after you’ve done that a couple of times to get the hang of it, try doing the same thing with the sentence below, so that the 2 sentences lap over each other:

I am Stupid|I am Stupid

When you see the two small sentences lap over each other, you’ve basically done whatever needed to make the 3D-shape appear in a stereogram. Now, the way the real stereograms work, is that you cheat your eyes and brain, by disrupting periodic sequences with pictures. When you’re making a slight difference, you will see it as if some part of the picture appears to be closer or longer away than the rest of the picture.

The actual stereograms

Underneath you will see three stereograms which I found at various websites. Try to see if you can make it work, otherwise go practise again.

If you could make all of the above to work, you’re welcome – and ready – to go search on Google! Note that these stereograms are quite easy to see; the pictures you’re supposed to lap over each other are quite big. Smaller ones will be harder! Keep reading if you want to learn how to create your own, simple stereograms!

Stereograms – How to create your own!

As I said, stereograms is basically just pictures lapping over each other, with a small difference. That is possible to make in Notepad, with words!

I’ll give you an example:

Now, the way to create one like this would be to first make up a text. Then you decide whether you want something like that above, or something with actual shapes, like letters. If you want that above, just make two (or more) overlap-able sentences and place 1 above the other. Then you have it. If you want letters, you’ll have to make up some short words, and making a lot of lines. Then you wanna make gaps on specific places, with space or “-”. Anything. You’ll figure it out.

I hope you enjoyed reading this.

Wow, cool article. I’ve seen steograms before, but didn’t really get it. I’m still not good at seeing the pictures, but I’m sure if I practice a bit I could.
