The Definition of an Artist

The Definition of an Artist

This is my perspective on what I believe to be a true artist. This definition is what I use as motivation in order to become exactly what it is that I have defined.

I feel bad for all those who never had a dream or gave up on their dream in order to be complacent or just settle for what they have. I can’t imagine ever giving up on my dream. I’ve dedicated too much of myself already to achieving the ultimate goal and it wouldn’t be fair to myself or to all the other artists of the world to just up and quit.

A true artist never quits and should never quit because it is us the artists who defines the dreams of a culture and the hopes of a people. You are able to romanticize all that you can because it was an artist who was able to provide description to the indescribable. We taught you how to identify with feelings and emotions and put into words and identifiable symbols things that can only be felt or described with “it’s inexplicable”. It is the artist from which the masses are able to learn and appreciate many different points of views on all subjects. We are alive and in the moment, we are forever present which in turn allows the masses to be in the here and now if they choose to do so. It’s sad that in so many countries artists go unappreciated and it’s even more saddening that the true value of an artist is known and received by the public after they die. The greatest artists all achieved their universal fame and legend after they had left this earth. Now recognition and fame are two completely different things. Artists the majority of the times are not looking for financial compensation first, although it is nice to be paid for your services. No, as an artist I am looking for my work to be read and appreciated for what it is; thought provoking. I take great satisfaction in knowing that I was able to spark conversation or intrigue the mind of another simply by conveying a message through words that sparks thoughts and ideas. That is a power and a thrill that no amount of money can ever compete with.

A true artist is a servant of the people and they have a duty to enrich their peers and make those who stop to read, listen or view their work better people for having done so. Artists hope to inspire. Therefore you should honor your artists and never give up on the dream you have. The death of a dream is the same as a death of an artist. It’s been said through movies and other principles that the saddest thing in the world is wasted potential or talent. I disagree, for me the saddest thing in the world is the loss of a dream or to quit on the dream. The dream is what inspires and what awakens that talent that we all hold inside. Without the dream the talent can not be utilized. An artist never loses sight of their dream because that is all that we are people who bring dreams to reality.

Artists are the gifted interpreters for those of us who lack expression and giving up on a dream is conforming to mediocrisy.Keep up the great work…looking forward to reading more :)

Great work my brother!!… It truly does take an artist to articulate the definition of one. With this type of inspired writing, it won’t be long before you have BOTH fame and recognition.
