Acting in plays produced on ant theater is just like traveling in time. When you get a role as the lead character in some western you are able to travel back in time into the eighteen hundreds. Acting any scenario out is just like living there.

First of all let it be explained that in order to portray any character just as he or she would react to things one must fully get into character. That includes the fact that people interpreted things differently as time has passed. People tend to be very deeply influenced by the society the dwell in. The average sailboat sailor had a different outlook on life than the ones today. Living like people of the past means your character has transplanted itself into another time period.

On the stage this becomes more realistic because of the set and costumes. One gets to learn just how it felt to carry some long sword in case any pirates tried to board. It’s just that your imagination has to make you smell the salt that drifts off the sea.

When your production is filmed like the old westerns were you actually get to live in the same environment them outlaws like Billy The Kid did. When the scene takes place at night your character can smell the camp fire and sink deeper into the time the movie takes place in.

Being able to portray some character that lives in the future isn’t as simple as traveling back in time. In shows like Deep Space Nine those actors had to become aliens which probably was a lot harder than portraying human characters. The directors had to tell them how the character they were to portray tended to behave. It must have been a lot of fun to slip up in time. They were able to foresee life as it is today.

This tiny bit of fun has been around for centuries. One can only laugh when they think about portraying a witch in a comedy produced in ancient Greece. It would be a little fun to experience what was humorous way back then.
