Theatre: The Proposal (Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds)

Launched a few days ago in theaters, let’s have a look at the movie that has as protagonists a well-known Sandra Bullock and the promising Ryan Reynolds. At the beginning I thought it would be a comedy as the rest that are abundant in theaters but after watching it, I found out that the argument maybe was not the best but in some way definitely original.

The story presents Margaret’s life, a talented editor, excessively exigent and stressed out due to her past. Her assistant is named Andrew (Ryan Reynolds). Because of a delay when presenting some migration papers Margaret is forced to leave the country, the States, and return to Canada. The way out: Andrew. She can marry him in order to stay in the country so she asks him to do this favor for her without letting him have any opinion. As a consequence, he would be able to develop a great professional career. At the same time, the migration department of the US threatens both of them, especially Andrew, remembering him that a fake marriage would mean a huge fee and a five-year prison condemnation. Andrew decides to accept Margaret’s proposal under the condition of becoming an editor finally.

That weekend Andrew’s family was celebrating his grandmother’s 90th birthday in Alaska, state from which he is from, so he travels with Margaret to do the official presentation in public. Margaret, parentless since she was 16 years old, discovers that her selfishness would damage the wonderful family Andrew has, especially the great grandmother’s character.

Will they continue with the plan no matter what? It is worth it to enjoy a more than an hour and a half movie analyzing the family values we would want to have and the exceptional grandmother’s character that reminds me of my own.
