Talented Northern Irish artist Marie Woods is back in the frame once again with her new exhibition which is set to open in the Burnavon in County Tyrone next month. In this latest exhibition ‘Rural Reflections’ Marie has put together a collection of oil paintings which depict the charm and character of a way of life during a bygone era.
Her paintings incorporate the simplicity and beauty of this way of life which has all but disappeared in titles such as ‘Turning Back the Years’, ‘Mowing the Meadow’, ‘Tying Down the Ruck’, and ‘Milking Time.’
Marie, who works from her own studio, has taken her inspiration from the many childhood memories she has of growing up on a farm in County Tyrone.
The artist, an honours graduate of the University of Ulster art and design college, has displayed her items at Art Ireland in the RDS, Dublin and has had work exhibited in the private collection of the Irish President Mary McAleese. Marie has also held a number of solo and joint exhibitions in Mid-Ulster and around the Province in addition to having carried out commissioned work at home and abroad.
Everyone is welcome to come along and re-live memories of ‘Rural Reflections’ at the Burnavon from Saturday, November 28 to January 2, 2010.
