What is Art?

Art really changes the way we see things, at least that’s what it did for me. I always had a curiosity when it came to art, I admired it, I studied, I wanted to create art, but I just couldn’t. Weirdly enough, when I hit fourteen all of that began changing for some reason, I discovered the hidden talent that I had been looking for most of my life. I started creating new pieces of art, expressing myself though it, when you admire and just love art you see the whole world differently; you see a thousand colors where most people see two or three, your mindset on life becomes either a more positive one or a more negative one as well. When I really got into it, my perspective on different things became more clear and I saw them with a different eye, I more fully understood the concept of really living life, the idea that there are some things that just disconnect us from this reality and take us to a place where we are alone, in peace, with no worries, a place where you are free, a place where there are no mistakes, where you can be yourself. We live in a cold world a competitive one, in which one has to go down in order for someone else to go up, a world where freedoms are really given by taking the freedoms of others. With art you can express the world as it is, you can get people to realize where they stand, and how they should change it. It bothers me that art has to do that but at the same time, I get to admire the beauty and compassion of the human heart, and I really think it is one of the ways to best depicture suffering.

Isn’t it weird that suffering has its beauty? Maybe it might not seem like it when we go through it, but when we go back and take a look at it, it is inevitable for us to blind our eyes to the great positive change it had on us, it gives us an idea of how we changed hopefully for the best, and if not, it gives us hope of one day getting there and making it better. Art comes in many forms and shapes but in my belief, I think that art is the connection between the material and the divine, an intermediate place where they both unite and create something beautiful. Art is a way of giving beauty to the worst of situations. Art is a way to cry out loud to the world and make them come to their senses. Art is a heavenly gift that has tremendous power, and no matter what happens, it never dies because I believe art is the human at its purest, a never-ending battle to express who we are and what we stand for. Art is the one thing that keeps bringing beauty into our society, whether it’s in the form of a song, a colorful canvas board or an amazing novel, art is just as necessary as the water we drink, without it we turn into robots, working machines with senseless jobs.
