Creating Artwork

A helpful guide to help create artwork!

Art isn’t something you just create out of nowhere…or is it? Here are some helpful tips for curing “Artist Block.”

1. Put something on that paper: You won’t get anywhere staring at a blank sheet of paper. Make a mark on the paper so at least you have something to build on.

2. Gesture: Lightly sketch an idea on a paper. Just scribble to you heart’s desire until you get a rough draft of an idea.

3. Take a break: Artwork isn’t finished in a day; it takes weeks, months, or years even! Stretch out and let you’re mind rest.

4. Stand Back: Take a couple of steps back. Examine your art from different directions. Is it evened out? Do you need to fix certain details?

5. Observe others: Nothing is completely original, so don’t be afraid to ask others for help or use someone’s idea to help create yours. Websites like deviantart.com and art.com are great places to observe works of art.

6. Change: Artwork may not come out the way that you want it to. Your ideas will change just like your art. It’s completely okay, it’s natural.

7. Critique: Find friends or colleagues to give you constructive criticism to advance your art.

8. Have fun!
