Canadian Artist Angel Szafranko answers questions on art related topics like inspiration, technology and criticism.

Angel Szafranko is a Canadian artist. In this interview she shares her views on various art related topics, reveals her sources of inspiration and recommends some great fellow artists.

- What’s art?

Well. No ones asked me this before. I guess, growing up I always thought that Art was something that someone has made. If you get right down to it, it’s still true.

- How do you define yourself as an artist?

I’m an amateur Photographer and a Student Animator.

- What’s the most exciting part of being an artist?

So many things, but the most exciting thing to me about being an artist has always been that no matter how good I get, I can always get better. There’s always room to learn and grow. There is no limit. To me that is the best thing ever.

- How do you deal with criticism?

I’ve learned that you can’t make everyone happy and to not take it so personally when someone finds something wrong with a piece of your work. Plus usually that person is just trying to help …

- What’s the difference between a great artist and a not so great one?

A great artist is never completely finished/satisfied with a piece.

- How are your ideas born?

From walking alone on trails with my headphones on, sleeping, not sleeping, chats with friends, people watching … life is so inspiring.

- Which role does technology play in your creative process?

I use technology to seal the deal basically. The only way to really get your artwork out on the Internet for everyone to see is to either scan it, take a picture or upload it. I do edit both my traditional and photography pieces in Photoshop.

- What are your best pieces? Where can we view them?

I use DeviantART for my photography mostly and secondly for my artwork. But I also have a blog where I have a lot of doodles, drawings, paintings, sketches and animations.

- Which online artists do you admire? Where can we find their artwork?

I really admire my fellow classmates. They are great for inspiration, helping with ideas, and good motivators for when the workload gets crazy! Sometimes It feels like we’re all one big family.

Some of them have accounts with DeviantART and some have Art Blogs. And a few have both.
