Seven Amazing Wooden Art Works

Seven Amazing Wooden Art Works

Ever imagined how much art can be hidden in wood works? Let us explore some of them in the world of wooden art at work, and also some amazing wooden toys.

Wooden Pots

Starting off with a really nice art work both in terms wooden nature of the object and also the photography of this. We use pots atleast sometime in our life. In India we regularly use them atleast once in a year on the festival called ‘Ugadi’ in Telugu or the New Year Festival. Pots are made of clay. But these pots are made of wood and completely resemble the clay pots. Some of them reveal the wood but some which are not shiny just look like clay pots!

Wooden Utensils

This wooden bin has an amazing collection of so many wooden utensils. We can quickly identify many utensils used for cooking food, rice, vegetables, sambar etc. There also seem to be some utensils used for cooking special food items on festival days. I can’t find out what all other utensils are for.

Wooden Elephant

Think about an art work involving Elephant in wood? Now look at the piece below. I cannot tell how much I like this one. This is so cute and artistic, the creator is a great artist. The photograph is also an artistic inspiration. The size details are not available. Its detailed features on ears, eyes, trunk and slotted type features on body are quickly noticeable. There are no tusks to see. And there is a head of an animal inside its body whose eye can be easily noticed. This head is just my perception.

Angry Hippo

At first I had ignored the art in it. It is a sculpture of a hippy who is angry (not happy), and is completely made of wood. It is a log and placed in a garden just like that. At first the visitors would be scared looking at the easily noticeable teeth and angry eyes.

Wooden Toys

Here is a collection of some cute wooden toys. I think there is more to these toys that this photograph didn’t capture. They must be expensive.

Abacus

I had seen many kids of 2-5 years of age playing with the calculators to learn numbers and arithmetic. I had noticed that nowadays these are made of plastic. But below one is very cute wooden art. The bids look very nice.

Toy Trains

Here is a series of pictures showing an infrastructure of road and railways built out of wood. This is an inspiring art work and a toy of immense learning for kids. There are flyovers which are quickly noticeable, some bridges, houses and roads. All the flyovers are made as railway tracks. If you had noticed, they are made like jigsaw puzzle. They can be opened and rearranged in several ways to create different types of infrastructure. This gives a great learning for children and also opens up their imagination. I not only like this very much, I used to do these kinds of works in my childhood but with cardboards.

I bought an elephant exactly like that one in India, except mine is made out of stone. The animal inside it is actually a smaller elephant and, depending on the size, there might even be a smaller one inside of that.

@sarah,

I agree. I didn’t know what was inside the elephant when I wrote this article. But I got it when I found many such toys in big shops, fashion/gift shops in India. Almost any city in India has a shop that sells this type of toy. It is very beautiful.
