Symphony in White

Symphony in White

My interpretation of James Abbott McNeill Whistler. Symphony in White No 2: The Little White Girl.

Beautiful.  This is my second interpretation a James Abbott McNeill Whistler painting. He is a very gifted artist.  I must say.  Shame he had to leave America to find love for his art!

This girl seems kind of lonesome.  It is as if she wishes not to be here or not to go some place. She is a graceful girl.  I love seeing grace in art.  Her hand lay on the mantle graceful, yet playful.  I find her placement playful as the bored little girl waits for the doom of her fait that says she must go now or she can’t go where she wants.

I love her fan.  It seems a fan that a young girl would carry.  Younger even than the appearance of this girl.  But this painting was done in the late 1800’s when innocence lasted much longer than it does today.
