The Whistler’s Mother: Vision in Art

The Whistler’s Mother: Vision in Art

This is my interpretation of ARRANGEMENT IN GREY AND BLACK
by James Abbot McNeill Whistler.

I like this painting.  She looks at peace.  Like she is reflecting on a life that may have been hard, but well lived.  Though she does not look ready to die.  Quite the opposite.  She looks as if she is taking a rest off her feet after a long day of work.

I will be her one day.  Well poised and ready for the world and everything in it.  I will have lived a good life and be living an even better one.  I will be enjoying the fruit of my spoils.

Goodness, she seems a well kept lady.  Not a hair out of place. Even her hair garment fell just so.  It seems that this lady lives in sweet simplicity.
