Tips on Drawing

Some people enjoy drawing in a certain style you should find one good for you.

Drawing isn’t as difficult as it seems. For some people it comes naturally but for others using tea squares and boards is easier. Some enjoy charcoal, and others like graphite. Water colors are fun and painting is enjoyable. Some people prefer normal pencils. Another thing to consider is to pick your paper. Bristol paper is nice but if you use or prefer heavy paper for makers ,pen ,and paints or maybe lighter paper that is smoother to draw on.

After you choose your favorite of those, (people who are still practicing should use pencils on normal paper and start by drawing shapes such as squares, triangles, rectangles, and circles after you practice flat shapes, try making them look more detailed by drawing spheres, cubes, rectangular prisms, and pyramids for practice. After getting good at that do the same with your favored method such as paints or charcoal.)  people should practice with each to find out which they prefer so that they can be confident in what they are doing because confidence is almost as important as practice.

Once you decide what you enjoy most find small things to practice copying, but if you prefer free form then practice by drawing simple images. Always have extra items (extra paintbrushes, pens, paper, etc. etc.) just in case. And if at first your drawing doesn’t look right don’t panic or get depressed! Sometimes you need to take a deep breathe and find the inspiration again then maybe start a new drawing of something easier (until you get better because practice makes perfect!) or try to find where you messed up and correct the mistake.

Another thing you must think about is style. Don’t try to copy someone else’s style because you won’t be used to drawing that way! You will find your style by drawing the basic and detailed shapes. Ask someone to draw the same shapes as you and look at their page and yours, you will probably notice a difference. So be creative and let your drawings shape themselves! Don’t give up and don’t try to please someone else, do what you think looks best! Most of all have fun that’s what its really about.
