Monopoly
Monopoly Tips.
Some people say that monopoly is just a game of luck. Which is partly true with the role of the dice, but there are some ways to outsmart your opponent. First of all, I would say at least 75% of people think that Park Place and Boardwalk are the best places to own, which however is not true. It will make you more money if someone lands on it but since there are only two spots, your chances are considerably lower then say, the yellow properties which have three spots. Another down fall to the dark blue or even the green properties is the price to build houses. If you had all green properties and your opponent had all red properties, he or she would be able to build houses quicker thus making you pay much more for landing on the red then they would pay you for landing on the green.
In my opinion, the best properties are the orange and pink. It cost $100 a house vs. $200 a house like on Park Place or Boardwalk. Have you ever gotten a monopoly and could not decide which property to start building houses? There has been studies that people land on the 2nd(or the middle) out of the three spots. The railroads are really a toss up. It is nice to have them at the beginning of a game but since there is no chance of increasing the income besides your opponent pulling the chance card that says,”Advance to the nearest railroad and pay owner twice the amount….”. I would use the railroads as a trading tool towards the end of the game.
Sometimes, your opponent will have Park Place and Boardwalk with hotels. The odds are you won’t land on them more then once in a 5 turn period. The only way you could lose to that is if you have nothing, have bad luck with the roll of the dice, and whind up landing on their hotels more than once….
