Playing with Your Mind and Luck
The objective of playing backgammon is to win.
Of course, nobody wants to be the loser so both players are expected to use all their skills, wisdom and luck. Just like in everything we do, we should always consider the power of luck.
The board of the game is composed of two dozens of points. Six for the player’s outer board and another six to the home board; and vise versa. The term point referred to the narrow triangles of the board. The player can play fifteen checkers of the same color. Usually, the colors that are used are white and brown though in some place, they may use red rather than brown. The triangles are subdivided into four quadrants namely as stated above and the middle of the board is referred to as the bar.
The main objective of the game is to move all the pieces to your home board. Sound simple right? But the game does not end up like that because the player has to roll the dice to decide how many move the player can move. The players usually use two dice and this is where the player’s luck is measured. Of course, luck itself cannot do the trick all alone because it can be overcome by the power of logical thinking so beware.
In every game in existence, there are rules and regulations. A piece of checker is only allowed to move to an unfasten point. The player can separate the value of the dice rolled or fuse them together for even higher value of move. A lucky player who had rolled his dice in the same value can use the value four times. Meaning, the player who achieved the highest possible move of six can make it times four its value. If however there is no possible move, the player’s move then is over.
Now the strategy is used during there is a blot. It is a point occupied only by a single checker. If a rival checker landed on the same spot where the blot is, it is then hit and placed on the bar. The player then ought to put back in play the checkers on the bar taking it as an opportunity to attain the first place.
The player ought to roll the dice together and land flat on the right-hand of the board. If differently the dice land on the other side or on the floor; and if the dice do not land flat, the player is obliged to roll the dice again until the he perform the prerequisites of the game. Before the other player picks the dice and roll, he should wait before the other player has finished playing because if he does so, his move will be invalid and annulled. This rule is ignored if there is no more possible move.
