MTG Card Commentary – Qasali Pridemage

A review and discussion of an Alara Reborn common that has earned a place in history!

Alara Reborn was a unique set because 100% of the cards in it were multicolored. People were very excited about cards like Terminate and Bloodbraid Elf, but there’s one card that really deserves a more in-depth look: Qasali Pridemage.

Qasalie Pridemage is good first and foremost because it’s not just a 2/2.. It’s a 2/2 waiting to become a 3/3! The exalted ability that this card posses will make this one of your early game offensive creatures. It could even be bigger if you have other creatures with exalted in play.

The exalted ability is also nice because once you have something stronger than this card out you can attack with it and still receive the +1/+1 bonus. This card is useful for your combat phase as long as it’s in play. However, the icing on the cake that makes this card so great is its ability to become Disenchant.

This card, when in danger of being hit by a Lightning Bolt or other deadly spell, can be turned instantly into a powerful weapon against artifacts or enchantments. This card could seriously mess up a Esper deck (for those who don’t know, Esper decks primarily run artifacts).

The bottom line is that this card does an amazing things. It can destroy artifacts or enchantments, boost an attacking creature, and be a quick and easy play on the second turn. All this, and the card is only a common. I feel that from Alara Reborn this card will survive longer than almost all the others from the set because of its playability. It’s simply amazing.

Thanks for reading! Please feel free to comment on this card and discuss it!
