MTG: Top 10 Creatures with Shadow

MTG: Top 10 Creatures with Shadow

Taking a look at the best creatures with shadow ever printed!

Shadow was an interesting ability that existed in the Rath Cycle. It was rekindled in Time Spiral, but since then has not seen anything new. Shadow was similar to flying, except that creatures with shadow can not block creatures with shadow. This list takes a look at the best creatures with shadow ever printed.

#10 Looter il-Kor

This card is great to get in the beginning of the game. You’ll easily be able to deal one damage every turn and also go through your deck and find what you need. Usually you won’t have to make such a hard decision and will only be gaining power and not losing it.

#9 Dauthi Mindripper

This card is fun in a discard deck. You don’t have to sacrifice it, so you don’t have to waste it discarding only one card. However, this card can make your opponent dump almost half their hand. They’ll certainly lose some good cards that they were saving.

#8 Shadow Sliver

As if slivers weren’t good enough, this card essentially makes them all unblockable. However, there is another way to use this card. Put it in a blue deck and then use it when playing slivers. During your turn, play it and then assault your opponent for lethal damage. They won’t be able to block your creatures because they don’t have shadow!

#7 Nether Traitor

This card, like many of the Time Spiral cards, is a modified version of an older card. The original card was Nether Shadow, which was interesting, but not quite as good as this card. This card keeps coming back for that pesky one damage here and there.

#6 Soltari Geurrillas

This card is unique in that it is the only red card with shadow. What’s really cool is that you can redirect its damage from a player to a creature they control. Its very versatile. The only odd thing is… what are those guys holding in the illustration?

#5 Soltari Champion

This card doesn’t have a downside. A creature with shadow should be attacking every turn. If another creature attacks it will get a boost from this card. Just beat the heck out of your opponent!

#4 Soltari Visionary

This card is a great way to get rid of your opponent’s enchantments. Why waste space in your deck with a Disenchant when you can put this card in its place? Damage and enchantment destruction all in one.

#3 Thalakos Deceiver

This card costs four mana but is well worth it. This card allows you to steal any creature your opponent has in play. It’s amazing. I’ve taken creatures like Platinum Angel before. Something like is a really incredible moment in a game of MTG.

#2 Stronghold Overseer

This card works even without having any other creatures with shadow in your deck. If you have six mana, that means you can give up to -3/-3 to attacking creatures your opponent controls (unless they have shadow). This is an offensive and defensive card. Plus, a 5/5 flyer with shadow is almost impossible to block.

#1 Spirit en-Dal

This card earned its number one spot because of forecast. This card can give shadow to any creature any number of times. You can even give shadow to an opponent’s creature so that they can’t use it to block. This card is versatile and can get those big creatures without offensive abilities in to do some big damage.
