MTG: Top 10 Snow Creatures
Taking a look at the best snow creatures ever printed!
For those of you who didn’t purchase any of the Coldsnap cards, snow creatures may sound like gibberish to you. However, snow creatures were an important part to that set. In fact, almost everything in that set had to deal with snow. It seemed like a dated idea for many players and wasn’t purchased as much as the other sets surrounding its release. However, it’s time to take a look at what snow stuff has to offer! These are the top ten snow creatures!
(All pictures come from www.magiccards.info)
#10 Diamond Faerie

This card is restricted to the set from whence it came. However, within a snow deck, this card is incredible! It boosts all your snow creatures, but is hard to use outside of a snow deck.
#9 Rimefeather Owl

This card starts small (presumably), but grows stronger all the time. Not only that, but it turns other permanents into snow permanents. This ability creates the potential for snow-covered land walk decks. It’s a cool card, but a little high in the mana cost.
#8 Rimescale Dragon

This card is actually pretty good! However, the fact that it requires snow mana to use its ability is what makes it rank so low. This card is still very powerful. It permanently taps something. You could combine this card with Rimefeather Owl for an interesting deck. Well, that’s the last of the strictly snow cards. It would be impossible to make a snow creature list without some cards that only function within the set.
#7 Frostweb Spider

This is just a good blocker. What makes it even better is that it grows when you block a flying creature (which is this card’s primary function). This card starts as a small blocker, but could grow into a big attacker! Just a useful common.
#6 Centaur Omenreader

Notice anything about this card? Yep, it’s not from Coldsnap. This card is however, very poweful. It greatly reduces the cost of creature spells when tapped (and there are ways to tap it without attacking). This card is great for those big creature decks that green is so famous for.
#5 Blizzard Specter

There have been many variations of specter cards, but this one is one of the best. It gives you the option of either returning an opponent’s permanent or making your opponent discard a card. It’s only an uncommon, but it’s ability is so good! This is a great card that is a good play for only four mana. It’s not terribly powerful, but it is still very good.
#4 Wall Of Shards

This card is probably labeled a crap card at first glance. However, it’s no such thing! This card can save you from a huge creature assaulting you while you try to get your combo off in a turn or two. This card is for an emergency. It’s an awesome defender though.
#3 Ohran Viper

This card means one of two things. Your opponent loses a creature or you draw a card. It’s a wonderful creature that gives your opponent two painful choices. It only costs three mana and can go in any green deck.
#2 Adarkar Valkyrie

Here’s a wonderful angel. You can use it to save your creature or steal an opponent’s. It has vigilance so it can attack and still be ready to save something. Its cost isn’t anything too outstanding either, so it can be played without much difficulty. This card is a really unique angel. Why it’s a snow creature, who knows? However, it’s one heck of a snow creature.
#1 Phyrexian Soulgorger

This card is awesome. It reminds me of Phyrexian Dreadnought. This card is a huge blocker for three mana or a big creature to swing with. It can go in any deck and is one of those awesome cards for a Pandemonium deck. Of course, the second turn it’s in play you can choose not to pay the upkeep cost so you don’t need to sacrifice two creatures. It’s a monster that aroze from the frozen plains; a remnant of a time long gone. This card is something that people have forgotten about today, and they should revive it! This is a great card and the best snow creature of all time.
