Here are some rules to follow if you would like to be invited again to play a few hands of poker with a group of players. You have two options; either lose money or follow etiquette. Following etiquette will save you a lot of money in the long run. Follow these rules of player etiquette to ensure that you become a regular opponent.

Wait Your Turn

This means in most cases that you should not fold your cards so early in the game. Wait for your turn if you think that you need to fold your cards in which you are holding. This is not fair to the other players if an individual learns that you are planning to fold out of turn. This rule also holds for calling and raising, but this is not as common as folding out of turn.

Do Not Speak While Playing a Hand

Basically, do not ponder out loud about the possibilities during a hand. This rule is standard, even if you are or aren’t playing a hand. Stay quiet until the hand is played out before you start speaking. This goes for whether or not you feel the move was brilliant.

Do Not Splash the Pot

Basically; you should keep your chips in a nice neat pile. Keep them in front of you until it’s time for each player to move their chips to the middle of the table. If there are several players, this rule can help keep track of where everyone stands and avoids some really heated arguments. It’s also a bad idea to just throw your chips in the middle.

One Player per Hand

You cannot receive tips or advice while you are playing a hand, which means you are not allowed to give advice either. Let everyone else play their own hand while you play yours.

Pay Attention To The Game

This rule of etiquette is a self explanatory. You would not like it if someone asked whose turn is it during a game. The same goes with other players if you ask the same question and not pay attention to the game.
