Rummy

Rummy

Here is where I will teach you how to play rummy.

Rummy is a fairly old game that many people happen to know. It is a game of skill and as with any game, a little luck couldn’t hurt.

Objective: To obtain the most points from runs (of 3 or more), or pairs (of 3 or more).

How to play the game:

  • To start, you can have most any amount of players and you will need a nomal deck of cards.
  • You need to shuffle the deck to mix up the cards.
  • You then need to pass 5 cards to each of the players and turn one card face up next to the remainder of the deck.
  • The person on the right side of the dealer gets to go first. (After him, the person on his left and so on and so forth….)
  • This person can either draw one card from the deck or the one face up card.
  • The player tries to get 3 of a kind (or four of a kind) or any suited run that is 3 cards or more. When the player gets these sets, they can simply set them on the table to active thier points.
  • The player then must set a card that they no longer want into the spot where the face up card is (if the face up card is still there, you place your throw away card on top of it).
  • If any other player wants to pick up more than one card from the throw away pile, then they have to be able to play down (as points) at least the bottom card that they picked up.
  • If you can play onto another players run or pair, then you can just play down the card(s) that fit in to thier run/pair. This can help you gain lots of extra points that could otherwise count against you.

  • The game continues until one player runs out of cards in thier hand.
  • Once a player runs out of cards in thier hand, then all of the otehr players have to subtract the amount of cards (The points which each card is worth, the points that you subtast from each card being in you hand is the same taht you would have gotten if you had played them. Aces/1’s are worth 15 points against you when they are stuck in your hand.) from thier points that they already played down onto the table.

The scores for each card go as follows:

1-9 = 5 points
(When aces are used in a run before a 2, then they are only 5 points)

10-king = 10 points

Aces = 15 points
(When aces are used in a run after the king, or in pairs, then they are worth 15 points.)

Jokers = 20 points
(Jokers are an option that you can decide upon haveing in the deck or not. It’s all up to what you and the other people that you are with, as to what you want to do.)
