There does exist an American lottery game called Powerball and is sold through U.S. lotteries. It’s a jackpot game and is conducted by Mutli-State Lottery Association that is a non-profit organization given birth by lottery members.

Powerball lottery is spread and played across 30 states of United States and winners are declared every Wednesday and Saturday by draw system. Powerball is a new emerging lottery system that came into existence on 7th, January, 2009 and is providing tough competition to other lottery system like Mega Millions.

How system works?

Balls colored as white and red are randomly drawn from the Jackpot. As a lottery play you have to pay 1$ and you are allowed to chose five numbers between 1 to 59 and you can select an additional number between 1 to 39. Numbers denoted by white balls are ordinary numbers and the one denoted by 1 to 59 red balls are Powerball numbers. So, you pick 5 ordinary numbers and one Powerball number.

Distribution of the prize depends on the ordinary numbers plus you Powerball number.

If none of your numbers are elected but only Powerball gets elected then you get paid with 3$.

If 1 number and a Powerball then 7$, 2 numbers and a Powerball gets you 7$ and so on.

If 5 numbers and your Powerball are drawn from your selected numbers and Powerball then you get a Jackpot and get paid approximately $270,000.

A single ticket was purchased by 8 meat plant workers in February, 2006 when Powerball was known as “Lotto America” and they had won the Jackpot worth $365 million in Nebraska.

Powerball is now becoming popular worldwide and other versions of Powerball have begun in other parts of the world as well.
