If you have been playing poker online for a while you must have come across a poker site that was claimed to have been rigged. It isn’t uncommon on poker sites when an inferior hand wins and the better hand does not win. And when this happens all too often the poker site can be rigged. Whether it is just a one time error or if a poker site is actually rigged will also depend on how the cards are dealt.

Most poker sites make use of a Random Number Generator to shuffle and deal cards to its players; it is far too common among the gaming sites. Several players and computer geeks claim that they are able to predict the cards that would be shuffled by breaking into the Random Number Generator system. More often than not, it is impossible to do so since most sites use advanced technology and security programs which cannot be broken into even by the some of the seasoned hackers.

However, it is not entirely impossible for poker sites to be rigged. Many players would be able to crack the software codes of the poker site and gain advantage over other players by winning bad beats. Apart from the Random Number Generator each poker site also makes use of several other types of software and subroutines that determine which hand wins and inducing action upon it. The RNG just deals with shuffling and dealing the cards to the players, it is the other software and the algorithms used in the subroutines that determine which hands would win; and anyone who can figure out the algorithms and the software codes and break into in and use it to their advantage by winning hands.

By cracking the codes, the player can also know what is going on behind the scenes in the game and get unfair advantage over the other players. This concept can be compared to the technique of counting numbers in blackjack. Although it cannot be said to be cheating, it definitely gives the player an edge over the other competitors. However, the player only gets advantage by rigging the site; he cannot still ensure that he wins the game. If you are playing at a site that is rigged it is not necessary that would loose a lot of money, as long as you figure out what is going on and adjust your playing techniques according to it, you can still continue to win whether or not the site is rigged.

Most poker sites would like to protect their software against hackers and even if they are aware that their site is rigged they would be the last ones to ever admit it. Admitting that their site is rigged will only mean that they are making it clear to the players at large that it is possible to break into the software and manipulate it to their advantage. That is why most poker sites would deny the claims, however, if you feel that the poker site you are playing on is rigged the best thing to do is adjust your game play accordingly.
