Teenage Gambling
Sad to say but it is increasing.

According to the International Centre for Youth Gambling in McGill University, almost half of the teenage population in Canada aged 12 to 17 have considered gambling as a form of recreation, 10% to 15% are endangered of having fatal problems with gambling and 4% to 6% are termed as ” addictied gamblers.” The temptation usually starts when adults gives lottery tickets to the youngsters as a gift or for any reason that they’ve given it and the use of Internet for bidding even this is claimed to be for fun. The result, says the researchers, more and more teenagers recently in Canada are gambling more than those engaged in smoking and use of drugs. The teachers are hoping that teenage gambling would eventually decrease through its government programs which aims to stop gambling especially the high school students who turns out to be having the most number of teenage gamblers.

Interesting article that even teenagers can succumb to pressures such as gambling in other countries. Not trying to sound ignorant but my focus has been mainly here at home, and dealing with economic issues.

It really does seem to be a problem. I think schools could put it into their citizenship classes as they do with drugs. Good work.

sometimes gambling is not really bad……if only extra money where use…and not more frequent….

That does surprise me. I think other activities are more appealing and accessible to them.
