it depends where you live - some countries charge taxes on lottery wins, others do not.

Good food for thought. I've always thought of lotteries as voluntary taxes for people who are not so good at math. Smarter just to put those few dollars a week into a savings account - although these days you won't get much interest.

I play every week on two draws and pay £10 GBP per week.I get 88 lines on UK Lotto and one ball guaranteed before the draw.On Euromillions I get 36 lines and two lucky star balls before the draw.

Since April 08 I have won UK Lotto 4 times and Euromillions 4 times and £1813.18 GBP.I don't have the worries of the above as the press can't trace me.A representitive picks up the cheque and then the cheque is banked with another organisation. That organisation then sends me a cheque of the syndicate share. Not even the bank or anyone knows it's from the lottery.

I also play for free as a bonus on a Wednesday and a Saturday for £1000.

Glynis is spot on and I wish more people thought like her.The problem with people they don't begin as they mean to end. Most people in the UK don't qualify to play the UK Lotto, as they don't have a up to date passport. Therefore, any win over £500+ they are not entitled to have it.They have to fill out claim forms for prizes over £10,000 and if they are filled out incorrectly they get nothing.Even if someone makes a false theft report on your ticket win you can get nothing!its all in the terms and conditions on UK Lotto.Camelot can argue that the winner hasn't "acted in good faith".Which, if you study the Gambling Act 2005 that also applies to people with a criminal record and non payment.

I prefer the way I play as it planned and I can never lose my ticket as syndicate numbers are on record.

Mark, one of the winners was advised to get a bodyguard for the grandkids in case of kidnapping, she was petrified after that (her daughter married into our family so I know more of what went on and its very sad) 1million sterling win, the other family had awful times as the press found one of the family had been in mental healthcare all their life, the UK press and public were cruel (these were my old neighbours so again I know)2million sterling win. I brushed against them but it wasn't to be ;) I would buy all the vineyards around me to stop developers moving in and keep the beauty that surrounds me, oh and by a new 4x4 ;)

I play once in awhile and I know exactly what I would do with the money on the far out change that I should win. I have everything I need so I would put a little aside for travel and divide the rest with my children and grandchildren and that would be the end of that.

I might add that my lottery dream list when I factored my wife's and my dreams and our children came to $11,846,500 and I do play accordingly. A very few dollars a week. I'm not a big gambler lol. Most of the stuff on our list is animal, art, music, or gardening related, making our farm more environmentally friendly faster, and of course the one thing that most of these dream list have in common I would reckon would be travel. But I might add that 4 Million of our list was devoted to land purchases to keep those lands natural and undeveloped. That's our Cause if you will.
