How to Look Like You Can Solve a Rubik’s Cube
You can impress your friends by creating a video of you solving a Rubik’s cube in as little time as you want.
This tutorial will show you how to impress your friends by making a video that shows you solving the rubiks cube, without you needing to learn how to solve it properly. You can ‘look’ like you are solving the rubiks cube in as little time as you want, so lets get started.
What You Will Need
- A standard rubiks cube (or a 4×4 or 5×5 if you want to be super impressive)
- A video camera or regular still camera capable of recording videos
- Stuff to transfer video onto the computer (any software and cables, depending on your camera)
- Video editing software – this doesn’t have to be anything professional, the simplest video editing software should be able to do what is required (I use imovie HD because I use a mac, similar software should be available for windows computers, try videospin, video mirror or windows movie maker)
What to Do
- Get a solved rubik’s cube. If you have one that is unsolved either get someone else to solve it or go here for a solver that will generate a series of moves for you
- Get your video camera ready, have someone to video you or rest it on something so you can video yourself. Now you are ready to make your video!
- Start the camera rolling
- Wave the solved rubiks cube around so your audience can see it is solved, then proceed to scramble up the cube
- Continue scrambling for as long as you want the movie to run for
- After you have finished scrambling move the cube around as if you are looking at it and preparing to solve it, then stop filming
- Upload the video on your computer and open up your video editing software
- Edit your movie so it plays in reverse, this will create the illusion that you are actually solving the cube, as your scrambling will be played backwards
- Save the movie, and impress all your friends! If you did it well it will look just like you have actually solved it.
- Try solving it in other ways, such as doing it one-handed, blindfolded or even with your feet to really leave them confused. How did my friend become so talented?
