How to Lubricate Your Rubik’s Cube
Short information on how to lubricate your rubik’s cube.
Rubik’s cubes that aren’t lubricated are extremely frustrating to work with. Most people (myself included), hate losing a Rubik’s cube time game because the pieces were hard to move. Some think that lubricated a Rubik’s cube is hard and expensive, but you could lubricate your cube in a matter of minutes while only spending a couple dollars.
First of all, you will need to have Vasoline or any type of lubrication. If you are an intense rubik’s cube-er, you may want to buy ‘refined petroleum oil’. Vasoline however, works almost the exact same.
The first step is to remove the loose middle piece. This will varry from cube to cube, but mine is the white-green piece. Line up the piece so that it is on a corner. Pop the piece out and then you will be able to see the inside.
Now, take your lubricant and put a little bit inside. Clean it out with a paper towel. Once again, put more lubricant inside and clean it out. Finally, put the loose middle piece back in and try it out!
Lubrication should be done once a year. At first, the cube may still be hard to turn, but within a day, it will be smooth as a baby’s skin. Have fun!
