Solving a Sudoku Puzzle

Solving a Sudoku Puzzle

Learn how to play sudoku purely by logic.

Sudoku puzzles are set up in a 9 x 9 square grid divided into nine 3 x 3 boxes. The aim of the game is to fill in every row, column, and 3 x 3 box with the numbers 1 through 9 only once.

  1. Start by looking at the row, column, or 3 x 3 box with the most already filled in numbers
  2. Look at the numbers that are already filled in on your row, column, or 3 x 3 box
  3. Whatever numbers do not appear already need to be filled in
  4. Before placing a number in a small square, first glance at the row, column, and 3 x 3 box the square is located in. If the number is already there located in one of these areas, do not place the number here

Tips

  1. You do not need to guess! Sudoku involves logic, not luck.
  2. If you get stuck, move on to a different area of the puzzle.
