Dungeons and Dragons (D&D), people have been posing the question of Satanism for quite some time now. However, to classify this RPG (role playing game) with other satanic acts is to also classify your child’s playtime with them as well. Many would say that this statement is unfounded and absurd but let’s look at the real hard facts:

D&D allows the players to pretend to be another creature such as a troll, gnome, elf, orc, Halfling, giant, dragon, drow, and the list continues. Look at the toys your children play with at home: bears, dinosaurs, Mr. Potato head, smurfs, Pokémon, again the list is huge. By the logic that the parents use to justify their position on D&D they would also discourage and forbid their children from pretending to be anything other than themselves. This being said, parents who are against D&D for its “satanic” role, also hinder their own kids’ imagination.

Magic, magic is viewed to be satanic and if a person pretends to use it they are acting in a satanic manner. Now, to warn people this may be a little shocking, but again this is based on the logic of people who think that D&D is satanic. Preschool aged children are exposed to: Dragon Tales, Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go, Mickey Mouse Club House, Back Yardigans, Sesame Street, Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood, and many others. Grade School age kids are exposed to: Sabrina the Teen age Witch (animated series), Danny Phantom, Ben 10, Aladdin, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and more. Junior high and high school students: Harry Potter, Sabrina the Teenage Witch (live series), Halloween Town, and again the list goes on. Speaking of Halloween, kids dress up as witches, wizards, animals, the dead, and anything else you can think of.

Worshipping another god other then the Christian god. First and for most, that statement seems a little egotistical of the Christian god. Anyways, in D&D the players get to choice which deity they worship. This is a pretend character worshipping a pretend god, not the player worshipping the deity. But people apparently don’t see it as that.

Dungeons and Dragons is a great game, I see it as a learning tool for my son. He is only 2 but I will encourage him to play. He will expand his imagination, learn to work as a team with others, and be able to understand basic math. It is also a great socializing tool for people of any age. So if you believe that intelligence, imagination, and team work are satanic than continue to rob your kids of a great RPG.
