The Sport Of: Monkey in the Gravel

The Sport Of: Monkey in the Gravel

An action packed game that my friends and I created. It’s loads of fun.

My cousin, friends, and I invented a game we like to call “Monkey in the Gravel.” It takes place at a playground. A big one depending on the amount of people. It is a game mostly played by 3 to 5 people. One person is the monkey. To decide this usually we fight over who won the “Not it!” game for like 20 min. After you battle it out and someone finally just gives up and volunteers, the monkey goes some where and counts to 30.  Whilst the monkey is counting all the other monkeys hide some where on the playground. The Monkey can not open his eyes at all! AT ALL! If he/she is caught cheating they must go and count again. Be careful while doing this because someone might get hurt! Make sure that you are familiar with the playground before jumping around ten feet off the ground, with your eyes closed. BUT WAIT! None of the monkeys can touch the ground except the one that is it. If one does touch the ground, the person who is it has to yell, “Monkey in the Gravel!” if someone is touching the gravel at all when the monkey yells this then they are automatically it. There is another way that they can be it to, if the monkey tags you when you are on the playground then you are it.

This game involves stealthy movement, and quick agile jumps. If you are not careful and sometimes can’t control your breathing, you will not be very successful at this game. I do not recommend blind- folding the monkey simply because they get disorientated. We tried this and after 10 min. of playing I took off the blind fold and discovered that I was located at a completely different part of the playground then what I thought. Because… face it, we can’t help peeking every once and a while. Just live by the honor rule that, if you do look, it is only at the ground. And if you accidently see some one then show some pride and admit that you saw them.
