Achievement Unlocked: A Healthier You
Take a step out of the virtual world and improve on the life that you live.
With the constant craze of the video game world, there’s nothing holding back the top dogs of the video game world when it comes to playing what’s new and staying trendy with the newest content for their console. In the life of a gamer, it’s extremely hard to commit to both parts of your life, what’s real and what isn’t. People frequently spend nights playing a game, and waking up the next morning going to a daytime job, or whatever personal complications they are part of. Because of the double life and the numerous hours wasted in front of a television, people can become very unhealthy, as well as develop terrible eating habits and addictions to caffeine.
After years of game play, I’ve put the controller down and became more active in the living, breathing world. The thought of unlocking an achievement is phenomenal, especially when it’s well deserved. Some people earn them to feel a certain satisfaction and personal happiness, almost as if their social life improves because of that one achievement. The gaming world is beyond due to look into the mirror. It’s time to earn some personal achievements in your real life, to truly enjoy the real things in life. Below is a compiled list of ways to get started.
DISCLAIMER: This list or article does not go against playing videogames, just playing them excessively.
1. Begin to pull together some close friends you enjoy spending time with, friends from the Internet aren’t acceptable. Meet people you can relate to and have common interests.
2. Create a well balanced diet, filled with fruits and vegetables. Instead of drinking soda, drink water or juice. It’s optional to work your way into this, start out drinking less soda and work into not drinking it at all.
3. Start becoming part of a physical workout, even if that means just taking a walk around town. If you don’t enjoy your physical characteristics they can be fixed with some simple workouts, running is an excellent choice.
4. Regain a strong social life, be active in the community and enjoy visiting places away from home.
5. If you choose to play games an awful lot, don’t force yourself to stay awake, having bloodshot eyes the next morning isn’t a pretty sight.
6. Practice good hygiene, a shower wouldn’t hurt, and simple tasks like brushing your teeth take no more then two minutes.
7. Get to know your co-workers, a happy work zone is a productive and beneficial work zone, who knows you might get a raise just from showing personal interest at your day job.
You get the idea! Recently I’ve seen lots of people in my community play video games excessively. At one point I even found myself to be addicted to the virtual world. People are becoming lazier and even more unhealthy by the day. The percentage of overweight people has skyrocketed over the years. I believe it would help a lot of people to limit their time spent playing video games, and became more active in their community.
Now it’s YOUR turn, what are your beliefs? Leave a comment telling me what you’d like to see in the community to improve health, or just in general what your opinion is on the gaming world. How does it effect you?
