Succeeding in College
Assures prospective students that success in college is not impossible.
If I can do it, you can do it. If I went to, and graduated from college, you certainly can. There is no reason you cannot succeed, no reason you cannot live the dream.
How do I know? Why do I think impossibilities are just barriers, with technicalities and problems serving as roadblocks to the things we really want and truly desire?
Because, I know. I know that is ultimately what they are.
If you want to go to college, by all means, go to college; just make sure you are doing it for the right reasons. That means do not go to party, do not go to get away from Mom and Dad. Go to get an education.
In this document, I am going to relate a personal experience, with the hope of convincing doubtful students that getting a college degree is indeed possible if they have the will. I can only do so by relating my own experience. Having said that, let’s get on with it.
- I had no money
- I had no friends at my chosen university
- I had no recommendations from local businessmen
- I had no preexisting contacts with professors or administrators
*All I did have was a strong desire to succeed and a lot of determination.”
So friends, if you want something bad enough, you will find ways to get it. I did, and I am a man who had a head-injury in November, 1990. My injury left my body misshapen, but my mind intact.
In a wheelchair, I attended for a time and was graduated from USF/Sarasota-Manatee in 2001, proving that determination and hard work definitely breeds success!
