Ten Things NOT to Do at College
Good advice.
- Don’t make partying more important than going to class
- Don’t cram for an exam; cramming doesn’t work– doctors say you need sleep to remember things
- Don’t sit in the back, so you can talk and cut up; some people actually want to hear the instructor.
- Don’t blow off, or miss class too often
- Don’t sleep in class; it may sound dumb to mention, but you’d be surprised how many people catch Zzzs when class convenes. (The lights are lowered in the Lecture Hall for a film, and heads start bobbing.).
- Do not think you can get by without studying. (College isn’t like high school, where most people can just breeze through school without much effort.).
- Do not just read the Cliff Notes, read the actual book. (Sometimes professors include things on the test that ARE NOT in the Cliff Notes to see who really read the book.).
- Don’t turn a study get-together into a party. (It may be hard to do, but stay focused on studying.)
- Don’t fall behind in classwork. (Be diligent about keeping up-to-date on assignments.).
- DO NOT lose sight of the goal. (You’ll be distracted right and left, but the goal is to finish, to be graduated.)

Excellent article! In college I was kinda geekish, ( was into sports and did hang out with the “cool” kids). But this geek is happy that she did all those things listed in your list.Else, would never have made it through college!
