The American University of Sharjah- Student Review

The American University of Sharjah- Student Review

A full description of “The American University Of Sharjah”.

I was bored like hell so I just felt like “expressing” what I think about this university after spending my freshman year here. This might be helpful to anyone considering going there so I will try to be as unbiased as possible.

1- Admission Department : 10/10

They made things easy, and the process was smooth. I didn’t have to go there 19839829 times.(it was not so hard)

2- Dorms Department : 8/10

Aside from a few problems such as water leakage (rare), the dorms are awesome. I enjoyed it here.

3- IT Department : 0/10

Word cannot stress how much hardship I took from this department. Frequent…no…too many Internet breakdowns, a server that makes the laptop freeze a lot (especially if you have a Fujitsu), and a very poor network (you can’t even use your cell in the dorm). Not to mention that their system will occasionally disconnect you for “security violations”.
IT department, if you are reading this….YOU OUGHT TO BE BETTER THAN THIS!!!!!!!

4- Campus : 7/10

Pros:-

- Beautiful campus (especially at night).
- Easy and simple to navigate (You can’t get lost in this university).
- There is enough room for all these students.
- Walking long distances everyday is healthy, however (see cons)

Cons:-

- Walking long distances everyday can become a drag after two semesters!
- The dorms are very far from the classes, so basically, if you oversleep on an exam day for example, you will be….how do do I say it….royally screwed.
- There aren’t any sewage systems here, so when it rains heavily…picture yourself in a flood.
- The medical center is far from the dorms. Whose stupid idea was that anyway? What if a student has an emergency?

5- Student Center: 8/10

It’s a great place.

The only problem with it are the restaurants, which serve nothing but junk food. There is no consideration for people with high blood sugar (for example: Me). And the restaurants outside “AUS” are the same.

6- Academics : 9/10

Great and easy system, and you can understand everything about it without having to write anything down. Only problem is that really annoying attendance policy (if you bunk more than 15% of the classes, you get dropped).

The number of exams is also very small, so if you screw one exam up, your grade will be affected greatly.

7- Activities : 6/10

Don’t get this the wrong way. There are a lot of activities in AUS. However, the people in charge just don’t encourage students to participate.

Basically, the activities are there, but you usually forget about them.

8- Administration: 8/10

Good enough for them.

This review might be update later, but so far, AUS gets 56/80 = 70/100 (Good)

yeh the most of wut u said is true BUT about the activities,,uni doesn’t care about whether the students enjoy the event or not, they only care about showing up on the newspaper.
I’m involved with the most of activities in the uni, so students joy is not their concern at all
