Inspired by TV, Movie shows:
- The Science of Harry Potter – Offered at Frostburg State University. This course deals comprehensively on studying the reality in the fantasy of Harry Potter. It explores on mythology, astronomy, world war 11 and the magical aspects that turned information into a study of physics.
- The Horror Film in Context – offered at Bowdoin College. The title itself explains the course. Students are taught how horror films are related to literary and the use of danger and violence in the films.
- The Simpson’s as Social Science – offered at San Jose State. The course compared the Simpson’s stories to real-life issues and is deeply into religion, culture and politics.
- Philosophy and Star Trek – Offered at Georgetown University. The Religions of Star Trek – offered at Muhlenberg College, Allentown, Pennsylvania as an entry level to theology class.
- Management Lessons from the Apprentice – offered at University of Washington, Seattle. This course deals on teamwork, leadership and social development in groups. Taken from the reality show “The Apprentice”.
- Vampirology – offered at University of Victoria, British Columbia. The name of the course simply explains.
- The Science of Superheroes – offered at University of California, Irvine. The name itself explains the course.

- Degree in Funerals – this degree covers the aspects from bereavement counseling to law, customer service and the disposal of human remains. (Offered in Britain).
- Professional Nanny – offered in Sullivan University, Louisville Kentucky. This course prepares graduates to work in private residences, daycare centers, children’s hospital and country clubs.
- The American Vacation – offered at University of Iowa.
This course is about American families’ race, class, gender and varying backgrounds that shape their vacation experiences. - The Art of Walking – Offered at Centre College of Danville. KY.
This course is more on literature of famous walkers. Focus on the relationship between descriptions of the transcendent and the ancient habit of walking, hiking and pilgrimage. This is an exercise too - The Joy of Garbage – offered at Santa Clara University. This course is also proposed to be offered at California State University. As the course name goes, it tackles about waste management, its effect in the environment. Students act like archeologists as they go through piles of garbage.
- Kitchen Ecology – offered in Hampshire College. Primarily focused on the kitchen, foodservice and the like.
- Ranch Management – This is a bachelor’s degree offered at Texas Christian University, Forth Worth
- Rock Journalism – Offered at DePaul University, Chicago. Fans of rock and roll can bump elbows with musical greats with this course.
- Paper Science – offered at Suny Esf, adjacent to Syracuse University. This is the school’s most challenging course.
- Turfgrass Management program – offered at Penn State and Michigan State University. Manages the turfgrass field research program.
- Computer Gaming and Anime – offered at University of Denver. Students can earn bachelor’s degree in this course.
- Bagpipers – This is a course about bagpipes and is only offered at Carnegie Mellon University
- Equestrian Business Science or Management – offered at Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri. This course is designed for students to work professionally in a horse related field.
Are you ready to pursue some?
Although quite offbeat, I’m sure students who are no longer interested in pursuing traditional courses in management, accounting, engineering, and the like will be magnetize.
Just a waste of time and money?
For me, it’s just a matter of choice.

The science of superheroes looks like the one I will enroll for first. Great article
