Two Minute Quick Cleaning Tips for Students!
Everyone hates cleaning, it always seems to hard especially when you dust and vacuum and the next day the dust starts to appear again. For students cleaning is “lets just say” not one of their highest knowledgeable subjects. After watching many TV shows and looking on the Internet I found some quick cleaning tips that students or adults alike can use to make cleaning much more easier and quicker.
Toilet Basins
I never really had a problem with this at home, but I noticed that the toilet wasn’t very clean at all in my room, therefore I think this may be a problem also for some other people too. A quick tip, is to pour a cup of Coca Cola or Pepsi down the toilet and leave it in their for the day. When you get back flush the toilet and your toilet will be clean! The coca cola is an acid and it removes the dirt. You can use coca cola / vinegar and hp sauce to perform the same affect on metals such as coins.
Get rid of awful smells
I always found that my room always smelt, even though I never ate much in their and it was clean. Since my room is right next to the kitchen my room smells like yesterday’s dinner. A simple tip was to buy this lovely apple spice febreze spray and I sprayed it on the lights and around the doors. By spraying it on the lights and radiators, when they are turned on you get a sweet smelling smell around the room and it doesn’t waste your spray as much as spraying it all the time to get rid of the smells.
Minimizing the dust
First dust, by wiping away the dust with a wet cloth. Then sprinkle some
Bicarbonate of Soda on the floor and vac over it. This removes dust from the carpet. After you have done you will not have to dust as often.
Removing chewing gum from the carpet
Get an ice cube and place it on the chewing gum. When it freezes scrap as much as you can off the carpet. Another good method is getting a hair dryer and heating it. Peel of the melted gum from the floor once you have heated the gum.
Straight clothes, no ironing
This is not much of a cleaning tip, but saves on ironing. Put your clothes in the shower room, obviously not in the actual shower. The steam from the shower straightens you clothes.
Cleaning your hair
Need a wash but have no shampoo. Many students have a beer lying around, just crack open a can of beer and drink a bit, pour a bit over you head, drink a bit again (like I say, we don’t like to waste much of it J ) Most shampoo’s use types of ingredients contained in beer so it’s a useful substitute.
Cleaning the microwave
If you have a lemon, stick it in a bowl of water (cut open) and put it into the microwave and set it for about 15 minutes. If you haven’t got a lemon, a bowl of water with a cloth will work just as good. After you have done this, wipe down the microwave. All the grease will come off much easily and it only takes a matter of seconds to clean unlike half an hour trying to scrub the inside of the microwave clean.
Cleaning a saucepan
The highlight of student food are burnt sausages and bacon, however saucepans do get very dirty. An easy way to clean a saucepan is to get a potato, slice in in half and just rub (quite hard) all over the saucepan. The grease will then start to lift off. After you have done this for a couple of seconds just rinse the excess grease away.
Fluff in the bathroom
New towels are a nightmare to take to University. I still get blue fluff all over my face after I have a shower. This fluff also is all over the floor in the bathroom. A nice idea is to get some sticky tape and curl it so it sticks on your feet but also has the stickiness on the floor. Then just dap your feet all around the bathroom picking up all the blue fluff too!
Cleaning windows
Scrunch up some newspaper and go over the windows with the newspaper. Apparently the ink in the paper makes it shine and the paper removes any dirt on the windows.
Did you know that if you have a clean room, then your exam marks increase by 40%. Your work standard and concentration increases by 30% and your happiness also improves greatly too. Also a few other helpful tips are to get yourself to the nightclub every Friday and Saturday. Dancing improves your learning style and also improves happiness which helps with stress from the studying hard all week. Smelling flowers and drinking tea keeps the information that has been discussed in your lectures in your brain and makes your learn and remember facts much more easily.
Hopefully these tips will help you through University and also avoid any unnecessary costs of repairs that may occur from a dirty room!
