How to Make Your Own Secret Code
This is a fun idea for kids, and is a great way to keep in touch! It’s easy, and free!

Making a secret code may be easier than you think! All you need is:
- paper
- pens or pencils
- and your imagination
You and the other people that would be using the code get together. Make a list of the alphabet on a piece of paper. You each take turns making a symbol and write it beside the letter in the alphabet that you want the symbol to mean. Do that until you have a symbol for each letter! Remember: Make each symbol simple enough so that everyone can draw it!
Then, you each make a symbol that stands for your name. It can be a combination of your initials, or whatever you want!
Remember to make a copy of the paper for every person who will be using it, so everyone can memorize the symbols. Once everyone gets the hang of using your secret code, you can write letters and notes to each other! And the best part is that nobody else will be able to read what you wrote! And you can sign your name with your very own symbol that you made! It’s almost like being a spy, and cracking the code!
Note: Remember to keep your code papers in a safe place so nobody else finds them!
