This Summer
Vacationing this summer.
Planning our vacation this year my husband and I are debating on flying or driving. There are perks to both and the decision is hard. Financially it would be cheaper to drive and you could take the time to see the sites on the side of the road. You can’t do that in a plane. But flying is so much faster and the view from the sky is heavenly. If we were to fly our twenty hour drive would get cut down to four hours. Let’s face it. It is easier to occupy kids for four hours than twenty. It’s a pity we are on a budget. Once we figured out the plane tickets and the rental car it was over five hundred dollars more than it will be to drive. It’s a shame you really can’t win for losing.
With soaring gas prices, as well as a raise in food costs it’s going to make vacationing this summer more difficult than years past. Our family tries to take one family vacation a year. We pick a place and the whole family goes. Our version of a family reunion, it works for us. This year I do not expect the turn out we have had before. Financially a lot of our family won’t be able to make it. Even with our government sending out the stimulus checks I don’t think it is really going to help. The majority of the money we will get is going to go to gas and groceries. What has the country come to when we have to choose between a gallon of milk and a gallon of gas?
