Tuffy Teddy Bear was unhappy because he didn’t have a boy or girl to call his own. He had no one to hug at night before going to sleep, too. This made him want to cry.

Teddy Bear Day is September ninth and he hopes to have a friend by then. To be hugged each night will be terrific! he thought. To share love with a friend will be great!

Tuffy sometimes sat on a shelf, out of the way, and felt dumb, dumb, dumb!

But the new baby would grow into a boy and be ready to play soon. Tuffy couldn’t wait!

Before, he could only lie in bed with the baby. But now, are those little footsteps I hear in the hall?
